Settle and Tompkins

I performed Charles Settle’s Communication Cinq Down and Joe Tompkins’s Hazel Nuts snare drum solos in my AD recital at Glenn Gould in Toronto, and they are based on French-American rudimental drumming, flow, and groove.

Ravel’s Bolero

I performed this masterwork with the Royal Conservatory Orchestra conducted by Earl Lee in Koerner Hall in Toronto, ON. A single theme is shared throughout the sections of the orchestra, and the repeating rhythm of the snare drum accompanies the orchestra starting at its softest dynamic with crescendo over 15 minutes to the finale!

Master’s Recital

I recorded my Master’s Recital in Brown Hall at NEC, and please see below for the program with notes on the pieces. I performed 3 works by Tompkins, part of a Lute Suite by J.S. Bach, a multi-percussion work by Hollinden, an etude by Piazzolla, and I arranged a xylophone rag for piano, drums, and marimba.

Girlfriend’s Medley

I recorded this arrangement by Bob Becker at NEC for my senior recital, and it is a fun, technically challenging, and ragtime piece for xylophone and marimba accompaniment!

Asventuras

This solo by Gerrasimez features several different ways of playing the snare drum, with sticks, brushes, hands, and timpani mallets, as well as some stick tricks and fun grooves throughout the piece.

Xenakis and Bui

I recorded Xenakis’s Rebonds B in Brown Hall at NEC, and start at 18:16 of the video. I commissioned Robbie Bui to write a piece for percussion and piano duo in my Bachelor’s recital.
